Your Unique, Personal and Beautiful Story | Montreal Newborn Photographer

Everyone’s story is unique. Simple. Your journey is yours and yours alone - it’s like the lyrics from one of my favourite songs by KT Tunstall called Heal Over: “Everyone sails alone/ But we can travel side by side.” This has been something I have been focusing on a lot in my own personal growth these past couple of years: about how our stories are unique and they deserve to be told in both unique and beautiful ways. This is why when little K’s mama N-A reached out to me to book a maternity and newborn session, but asked for it to be captured in their beautiful home, I was so excited!

Because everyone’s story deserves to be told in a unique, personal and beautiful way.

N-A was telling me about how much of this past year has been about them building their home and waiting on this baby to arrive, two huge changes in their lives. And at her newborn session, as we were sitting in her bedroom, hearing the rain as it was hitting their window, it dawned on me that they were finally home. A year of moving, building, and preparing was all leading up to this moment when they were home with their beautiful daughter and finally living their lives.

Meeting this couple was so cool, they are very relaxed and super kind. They made me feel appreciated and welcomed both times I was in their home. Heck, you know that feeling when someone gives you this overwhelming compliment that your brain kinda turns to mush? That happened to me when N-A told me that they were inspired by my home studio when they designed the decor of their bedroom - I mean that is the coolest thing ever! And such a huge compliment because these people were WAY cool at designing their beautiful homes.

Capturing their home as well as their lives in their home was such a wonderful experience.

This is why at-home sessions are becoming more and more popular with my clients. Because we can capture the new and stylish: the lovely minimalist style of their crib in the nursery, along with the old and meaningful: sturdy and stunning wooden cradle that N-A’s grandfather built. I mean I even love that we were able to even get their little fur-child (dog :p) in for a beautiful family photo too!

I was truly honoured to be able to capture little K’s full story, but also her home as it was when they first moved in. These are moments in little K’s life that she will not remember, but that she will love to be shown and told about as she grows. This is why I truly encourage you to look at these sessions, as not just a means to capture this moment, but as a way to tell the story. The Full Story.
