Frequently asked questions.

  • No, we use the natural light that comes in through the massive windows in our home studio. While using professional grade lighting is completely safe for newborns, I just prefer the organic and dynamic look of natural light photography.

  • For Maternity, generally between 32 and 36 weeks. This can be adjusted depending on how your pregnancy is progressing as well.

For newborns, I would suggest booking with us BEFORE your baby is born, just so you don’t have to juggle the booking process during those first few weeks with your newborn.

As for when we book the session, most photographers will tell you within the first two weeks of the birth, and that is very true in some cases. The session can go by quicker because baby is more sleepy and curly, so they are less bothered and are easier to pose.

But throughout the years of doing newborn photography I have found that can be very hard and stressful on the mom, and the family. Sometimes Mom needs time to heal from the birth, sometimes breastfeeding takes a while to get right.

So we are fully fine with doing sessions beyond those first two weeks. Please note some poses might not be safe to do past the first couple of weeks, but it’s not the poses that matter! Your photos will be gorgeous no matter what!

  • In regards to your maternity or family photos, you will be glad to know that I take care of all of the posing. I take pride in the fact that I can fully pose a family from head to toe, and still get some truly beautiful and authentic moments within those guides.

  • We have our beautiful in-home studio in Ville Emard in the Sud-Ouest of Montreal, QC. We prefer to welcome you into our home, because we find it much more warm and less intimidating than the usual idea of a photography studio. We want you to feel as welcome as our friends and family.

With certain sessions we also offer the option of doing it in your home. There may be a travel fee depending on how far you are from the studio, but we discuss that in more detail in our consultations.

  • I have never had that happen in my over 14 years of photographing newborns. I work super hard to make sure baby feels safe, warm and settled by doing what I can to recreate a womb like experience.

With that said there are times when baby might be going through a growth spurt, or with their very brand new developing digestive system they could be having some very painful gas.

I have no issue working with your baby for however long it takes to ensure you get beautiful photos. With that said, our sessions ARE baby led. If baby is not doing well, we can always reschedule your session to a couple of days later. I book 4 hours for my newborn session, because I know how unpredictable life with a newborn can be! But I do everything in my power to ensure that I am not sending you home with an overstimulated and overtired baby.

Additionally, if YOU are uncomfortable, and would like to pause or stop the session, you definitely can! We want you to know that our studio is a safe place, and we fully respect the trust it takes to do the work we do.

  • Both Chuck (who assists me in newborn sessions) and I are fully vaccinated (covid, flu, etc). We also frequently wash our hands, wash our props between sessions, and have no issues with wearing a mask during your session. In fact, our policy is we will wear masks if we or anyone in our family has recently been sick, or if we have been in contact with anyone who is sick. If anyone in our household is sick at the time of your session, we will reschedule your newborn session, because those tiny little immune systems are so so fragile.
